« Only lawyers, representatives from a consulate, or people calling from foreign countries are allowed to call people who are in detention. If you need to speak to someone who has been detained, you should send the person a money order so he or she can buy a phone card and call you. « You can drop off clothes for a person who is about to be released or deported, but only if the person in detention writes a “kite” (a request form) to the captain asking for permission and the captain approves the request. « People who are in detention have their immigration hearings at the court inside the detention center. When people pay their bonds or are released on the ankle bracelet program, their cases are transferred to the court in downtown Denver and they must attend their hearings there.
